Learn How You Can Make Your Own Yarn Bowl
When you are knitting, nothing is more annoying than having your yarn moving all over the place. So, why not make your own yarn bowl and avoid the problem all together?
This little video from Interweave Craft teaches you how to do just that.
It shows you ideas such as transforming a tissue box (my favorite), to using a strainer pot. So, stop chasing yarn balls all over the place and make your own version of a yarn bowl
Watch this video from the Yarn Hack Team over at Interweave Craft and see how it is done!.

I saw this tip many years ago, maybe in the 70s. Use a large oatmeal box. At the time it was Quaker but now there are all kinds of brands of oatmeal. I put a hole in the cardboard lid and pulled my yarn through. Today the lids are made of plastic. I dont always use the lid, I just drop the ball or skein into the oatmeal box. Then depending on where Im knitting, I sit it on the floor next to my chair or on a table. I like this better than a bowl especially if you have cats.
I use a fairly deep, stainless steel bowl. It’s slippery enough to that the ball of yarn just danced in the bowl.
I like intarsia knitting and use a wine bottle carrier from the supermarket. Just pop balls into each section
I use a soda bottle cut in half
I use a ziploc bag…cut a corner off one end to feed the yarn through and the ball of yarn is protected in the bag!
