FREE Pattern For Stylish Cocoon Hanging Seat
If you are anything like me, you are constantly hunting for the next knitting project, so I though I share this fun and unusual knitted Cocoon Hanging Seat with you.
Why not set up a reading corner where the lucky owner of the Cocoon can hide away and read quietly? I think any child would enjoy having this nice and cozy space in the bedroom.
Knitted using chunky, this fun addition to any kids room is about 28 inches wide and 82 inches in height. The height can be extended by adding knitted loops.
The hemisphere shaped seat portion is knitted with garter stitch short row method.
After the round bottom is done, pick up stitches along the edge to knit the tapered back of the seat and work all the way up. Finish off the seat with a nice border on the opening and a loop at the top.
Hang the Cocoon just above floor level to facilitate easy access. You should also make sure that the ceiling support and hook are strong enough to hold the weight of both the child and the Cocoon.
In the pattern & tutorial page, you will also find the sewing pattern to sew up the seat insert for this cocoon hanging seat.
The seat insert comes in hemisphere shaped, with flat top and rounded bottom, it fits into the hanging seat nicely. It is stuffed with an Extra Large gym ball, you can deflate it anytime for easy storage.
