Like to Binge-watch Netflix But Keep Falling Asleep?

Not to worry – Netflix has created “smart” socks that sense when you fall asleep and pause the show you were watching.

Nothing is more annoying than falling asleep in the middle of a box set and wake up two seasons later wondering what happened. However, these Netflix socks detect when you have dozed off and send a signal to your TV so your show is automatically paused.

The sleep-detection system in the socks uses an accelerometer to tell when you have stopped moving for a while. Even though these socks are not perfectly accurate, it is still a fun idea.

A word of warning, to build the sensor, you will need an understanding of electronics and micro-controller programming and be comfortable around a soldering iron. (There are a full set of instructions on the Netflix website.)

If you do not fancy giving the electronics a go – you can still try out one of the many sock patterns that you can download for free from the Netflix website: Netflix Socks
