Learn How To Knit The Chinese Wave Stitch
In this video tutorial, you will learn how to make the Chinese wave stitch.
This is an easy stitch to learn as it is based on the garter stitch. In fact, this means that there is no purling, nor does it curl up.
The resulting pattern gives a lovely and thick fabric that is very textured, so this stitch is perfect for making dishcloths and pot holders.
You can slip the stitches either knitwise or purlwise and the pattern is achieved by repeating 4 rows:
- Cast on an odd number of stitches.
- Row 1 (RS): Knit all sts.
- Row 2: Knit 1, * slip 1, knit 1; repeat from * to end.
- Row 3: Knit all sts.
- Row 4: Knit 2, * slip 1, knit 1; repeat from * to last st, knit 1
